P2P traffic management solution

P2P traffic accounts for about 50% of network traffic. These flows occupy a large amount of network bandwidth, which is a headache for operators. There are only three ways to deal with P2P traffic: blocking, sparse, and combination of sparse and sparse. The method of combining blocking and sparseness is a solution that takes into account both the interests of operators and the interests of the majority of users, and is therefore favored by operators.

Unblocking can't reduce the pressure that P2P traffic puts on operators; only plugging can reduce users' P2P application experience. Neither approach can solve the operator's problems well. The combination of loosening and blocking has brought new hope to solve the problems faced by operators in P2P applications. The combination of loosening and blocking can not only reduce the P2P traffic pressure of the operator's network outlet, but also improve the user's P2P application experience.

A good P2P traffic management solution should:

• Bypass deployment management of P2P traffic at the outlet without affecting the existing network structure and performance;

• No interruption of business and normal operation of the network, no increase of failure points. Quick and flexible field deployment and easy cutover;

• The combination of loosening and blocking can not only relieve the pressure of P2P traffic at the outlet, but also ensure the user experience through caching;

• Understand the user's behavior through the content analysis system to ensure the security and manageability of the content;

• Large-capacity cache content can enrich the local value-added content platform;

The P2P traffic management system should combine the existing network deployment and structure to analyze the underlying protocol of the operator's backbone network egress traffic, identify the application to which each network session belongs, and formulate corresponding management and monitoring strategies for P2P applications to address Starting with the problem, strengthen the operator's monitoring and management of network traffic while optimizing the operator's existing network quality and reducing the cost of export traffic.

When the P2P traffic management system is deployed on a 10G backbone network, since the analysis equipment of the system can only handle sub-gigabit traffic, a shunt must be used to decompose 10G traffic into gigabit traffic before the server can analyze it.

Advantages of shunt P2P solution:

The core of the full-flow P2P traffic management solution is to establish a huge buffer for P2P traffic. Through the interception and analysis of the actual P2P traffic, we learned some repeated downloads. Establish local storage for repeatedly downloaded content. When a node in the network needs to download the content from outside the network, the P2P traffic server will respond immediately and send the P2P content from the local storage to reduce the download traffic from the external network. Because the network egress uses a 10G POS interface, the 10G POS traffic must be offloaded before the P2P traffic server can analyze the traffic. The P2P traffic server needs the content of the message, so it is required to distribute all the traffic of any session and send it to the server. And no message can be lost. If a message is lost, the entire content is incomplete. This requires that the output message buffer of the shunt be done very well. Because as long as the traffic converges, there must be burst traffic. Even if the average traffic does not reach the line speed, there will be instantaneous traffic, or burst traffic, which exceeds the limit of the gigabit line. To achieve the goal of not losing packets, there must be a good buffer management mechanism. Buffer the burst traffic and delay the transmission. Each gigabit interface of the FS3200 has a buffer of 2K packets (8M bytes in total), which has a good buffering effect on burst traffic. For the case where the burst traffic reaches 2G within 25 milliseconds, no packet loss can be achieved.

To ensure session integrity, the splitter should ensure that the same session is output from the same output port. Otherwise, the server cannot restore the protocol and the network content cannot be restored. The shunt function provided by the shunt FS3200 can be performed according to the IP address. For the same IP address, the same output interface must be selected to output the message.

Simple configuration The configuration of the splitter by the P2P traffic server is relatively simple. Because there is no need to filter the traffic, there is no need to configure a rule table, and no need to dynamically set rules. Therefore, static configuration is sufficient.

Smaller boxes often require smaller operators to address P2P traffic issues more urgently. Because network resources are often concentrated in the hands of large operators, small operators need to pay traffic fees to large operators. Small operators have fewer 10G lines. In most cases, one 10G line is enough. Therefore, flexible data board quantity configuration is more popular. The data board and control board used by the FS3200 are all standard size and standard backplane connections, which can be applied to various sizes of ATCA chassis. According to actual needs, customers can choose 2U, 3U chassis, saving investment.
