Although the 60-inch TV shipments this year are estimated to be only about 2 million units, accounting for only about 1% of the global TV, but next year, shipments can be expected to grow significantly, estimated to reach 14 million units in 2015, the penetration rate is about 6%.
According to statistics, direct-lit LED-backlit LCD TVs are selling well in mainland China, India and some emerging markets. LED chip manufacturers also believe that this year's direct-type products will only be launched, the response is better than expected, and the Korean manufacturer Samsung also shouted. The proportion of direct shipments will reach 70% next year, so it is estimated that the global direct-lit LED-backlit LCD TV market penetration rate will exceed 50% next year.
As for LED lighting, manufacturers are gradually moving towards the introduction of high-wattage, high-lumen LED bulbs. It is generally estimated that LED bulbs replacing 60-watt incandescent bulbs are expected to drop to US$10 (about NT$290) in the first half of next year. There is an opportunity to fight with energy-saving light bulbs; plus a larger amount of commercial lighting is expected to take off in 2014, is expected to lead to another significant growth in the overall value of LED output.
