Throughout the 1980s, FANUC continued to expand its product range. In 1979, it introduced the CNC system 6, a mid-range system that offered both basic and advanced features. The 6M model was ideal for milling machines, while 6T suited lathes. This system used large-capacity bubble memory and integrated circuits, reducing component count by 30% and introducing user macros for custom programming. Building on this success, FANUC developed Systems 3 and 9 in 1980. System 3 was compact, cost-effective, and well-suited for small machine tools, while System 9 provided high-performance, flexible control for complex applications like aerospace manufacturing. These systems demonstrated FANUC's commitment to meeting diverse industrial needs. In 1984, FANUC launched the CNC 10, 11, and 12 series, which brought significant improvements in hardware and functionality. These systems featured advanced integrated circuits, optical fiber technology, and enhanced data transmission capabilities. They also supported PLC programming in multiple languages, including Pascal, making them more versatile for users. The following year, in 1985, FANUC introduced the CNC system 0, designed for small and cost-effective machine tools. Its features included color graphics, multi-language support, and macro functions, setting new standards in user experience. By 1987, FANUC had developed the groundbreaking CNC system 15, known as an AI-powered system that integrated Man-Machine Control (MMC), digital servos, and high-precision components. This marked a major leap in automation and control technology. Today, FANUC continues to lead in the development of CNC systems, industrial robots, and automation solutions. Its product lines include the F0, F10/F11/F12, F15, F16, and F18 series, with the F00/F100/F110/F120/F150 series offering enhanced MMC functionality. The company’s history is filled with achievements, from its early days as a pioneer in CNC systems to becoming the world’s largest manufacturer of industrial robots. FANUC has also expanded globally, establishing operations in China and other regions. In 1997, Shanghai FANUC was founded, marking the company’s entry into the Chinese market. At the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, FANUC showcased its cutting-edge robotic technology, including a 5-meter-tall, 1.3-ton robot named "Fanako."
