The EU through the French high-speed broadband plan to reach an average speed of 30M by 2020

France's "Echo" reported on November 8th that on November 7, the European Union announced that the state subsidy in the French high-speed broadband program (PLAN TRES HAUTDEBIT) complied with relevant EU regulations and decided to formally adopt the plan.

According to the report, France plans to lay a new generation of high-speed broadband covering all 100 provincial-level administrative regions by 2022 within the framework of the high-speed broadband plan, providing high-speed broadband services of not less than 30 megabits per second for all enterprises and individuals. The total investment of the plan is 20 billion euros, of which 13 billion euros is borne by the French central government, local governments and EU funds, and the remaining 7 billion euros are borne by private telecom operators.

The report also said that as of March 2016, the program covered 47.4% of residential, corporate and government agencies and is expected to cover 50% of the population by the end of 2017.
