TDK introduces 22kHz high sensitivity 3D transponder coil

The TDK Group B82453C*A* series 3D transponder coils now include a new variant, the B82453C0335A022, operating at 22kHz. This addition expands the existing 125kHz frequency range, which is widely used in keyless entry and start systems (PEPS) as well as other low-frequency applications. The new coil is designed to enhance performance in security and access control systems where higher frequencies are required. These advanced 3D transponder coils feature exceptionally high inductance values across the x, y, and z axes—30mH, 33mH, and 55mH respectively. Their sensitivity is also impressive, with 25.5 mV/μT on the x and y axes and 23.3 mV/μT on the z-axis. This level of sensitivity sets a new benchmark in the industry, making them among the most sensitive options available for their size and inductance characteristics. Compared to the existing 125kHz product line, the new 22kHz version offers a 20% improvement in performance. It remains RoHS compliant and maintains a compact form factor of just 11.5 x 12.5 x 3.6 mm. The coil is manufactured using injection molding and laser welding technologies, ensuring robust mechanical properties and durability. It has successfully met all the rigorous requirements for PEPS components, including passing a severe drop test. Additionally, the new transponder coils are AEC-Q200 compliant, ensuring reliability in automotive environments. Whether used in vehicle access systems or other high-performance applications, these coils provide a reliable and high-performing solution that meets the demands of modern electronics.
