Associate Professor Liu Wenjun from the Department of Environment of Tsinghua University received an official notice from the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA) on November 30th. He was elected as the executive director of the association at the conference held in Quebec City, Canada on November 6th. The International Ultraviolet Association currently has more than 1,000 members from 38 countries, focusing on research and technology development in the fields of disinfection, advanced oxidation and equipment manufacturing with UV technology at its core. Associate Professor Liu Wenjun joined the International Ultraviolet Association in 2000, and his research achievements in UV disinfection have been recognized by international peers. In particular, since returning to China in 2003, after teaching at the Department of Environment of Tsinghua University, he has made outstanding contributions in promoting the development of UV disinfection technology in China, and participated in the formulation of the first technical standard for UV disinfection of water and wastewater in China. He successfully organized the first international seminar on ultraviolet water and wastewater disinfection technology at the Beijing Convention Center from October 30 to 31, 2005.
