ASIX Electronics recently announced that it will add two Ethernet control chips for the Embedded Ethernet series of embedded network applications: AX88742 and AX88783, which has built-in dual-port 10 / 100Mbps Ethernet physical layer (PHY), media The access controller (MAC) and network-managed layer 2 switch can be connected to any microcontroller using the third port. AX88742 can be used with a microcontroller with a 32-bit PCI bus, and AX88783 can be used with a microcontroller with a general 8/16 / 32-bit bus. Engineers will provide dual-port Ethernet connectivity for embedded systems, and access remotely located voice, video, and data through the network.

AX88783 is a dual-port Ethernet switch, and the third port is a Non-PCI / SRAM-like host interface. AX88742 is also a dual-port Ethernet switch, but the third port is a 32-bit / 33MHz PCI host interface.
