Leadis launches new LED driver
The LDS8842 and LDS8830 incorporate an additional boost mode with an output voltage equal to 1.33 times the input voltage. The 1.33x boost mode is an intermediate high performance mode between 1x and 1.5x modes. Suitable for input voltages between 2.5V and 5.5V, no external capacitors are required. The LDS8842 and LDS8830 are available in a 3mm x 3mm package. The LDS8830 is also available in a 2.5mm x 2.5mm micro package.
The LDS8842 driver is a 1x/1.33x/1.5x/2x boost mode fractional charge pump that can drive up to 4 LED circuits with up to 25mA per circuit. LED brightness control is controlled by a single line interface, which can be adjusted to a current level of 0.78mA~25mA. The LDS8842's LED circuit pairing accuracy is +/-1.5% and current accuracy is +/-2%.
The LDS8842 supports input voltages from 2.5v to 5.5v; the switching frequency is 1.3MHz (1.5x mode) and 1MHz (1.33x and 2x mode), providing low noise input sound waves and external ceramic capacitors. Other features include soft start and current limit, thermal shutdown mode, short circuit protection mode, and a low current shutdown mode with an upper limit of 1μA. The LDS8842 is available in a 16-pin TQFN package (3mm x 3mm) with a height of up to 0.8mm.
In addition, the LDS8830 driver is a 1x/1.33x/1.5x/2x boost mode fractional charge pump that can drive 3 LEDs with up to 32mA per circuit. The LED brightness control is controlled by a single-wire interface and can be adjusted from 1mA to 32mA. The LDS8830's LED circuit pairing accuracy is +/-1.5% and current accuracy is +/-2%.
